About tryptophan

Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that is vital for humans. It is one of the proteinogenic amino acids from which proteins are built. In addition to its role as a building block of proteins, tryptophan also has various other important functions in the body. In this text, I will go into more detail about the importance of tryptophan, its sources, its role in the human body and the possible effects of tryptophan deficiency.

What is tryptophan?

Tryptophan is an aromatic amino acid with the chemical formula C11H12N2O2. It is found in many foods, especially in protein-rich foods such as meat, fish, eggs, dairy products and certain plant sources such as soya beans, nuts and seeds. The human body cannot produce tryptophan itself and is therefore dependent on dietary intake.

An adequate supply of tryptophan is of crucial importance for human health and well-being.

Tryptophan as a building block of proteins

Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that the body cannot produce itself and must therefore obtain from food. As a building block of proteins, tryptophan plays a central role in the formation and maintenance of tissues in the body. Proteins are essential for the formation and repair of cells, organs, muscles, enzymes and hormones. A lack of tryptophan can therefore lead to a protein deficiency, which can cause various health problems.

Tryptophan as a precursor of neurotransmitters

One of the most important functions of tryptophan is its role as a precursor for the synthesis of neurotransmitters in the brain. The neurotransmitter serotonin, which plays a crucial role in the regulation of mood, sleep, appetite and other neurological processes, is formed from tryptophan. Serotonin deficiency can lead to mood disorders such as depression and anxiety. In addition, the hormone melatonin, which regulates the sleep-wake cycle, is synthesised from serotonin. A sufficient tryptophan content in the diet is therefore important for a stable mental state and healthy sleep.

Immune system and inflammation

Tryptophan also plays an important role in the immune system. It is involved in the production of immune cells and can modulate immune functions. A sufficient tryptophan content therefore supports a strong immune system and helps in the defence against pathogens. In addition, tryptophan may also have anti-inflammatory properties that can help fight inflammation in the body. Inflammation is often the cause of many chronic diseases, so adequate tryptophan intake can help reduce inflammation and promote health.

Energy production and metabolism

Some tryptophan is converted in the body to vitamin B3 (niacin), which is important for energy metabolism, DNA synthesis and other metabolic processes. A lack of tryptophan can therefore lead to a lack of niacin, which in turn can lead to a lack of energy, tiredness and other metabolic problems. An adequate supply of tryptophan is therefore important for energy production and proper metabolism in the body.

Neurological functions and brain health

Tryptophan is also important for neurological functions and brain health. In addition to the production of serotonin and melatonin, tryptophan can also influence the production of other neurotransmitters such as dopamine and noradrenaline, which are important for mood, concentration, memory and other cognitive functions. A lack of tryptophan can therefore lead to neurological problems such as memory impairment, concentration problems and reduced cognitive performance.

Regulation of appetite and eating behaviour

Serotonin, which is synthesised from tryptophan, plays an important role in the regulation of appetite and eating behaviour. A lack of tryptophan can lead to appetite disorders, such as an increased feeling of hunger or uncontrolled eating behaviour. This can lead to weight problems and eating disorders. An adequate supply of tryptophan can therefore help to maintain a healthy appetite and eating behaviour.

Improving mood and emotional well-being

By producing serotonin, tryptophan also helps to improve mood and emotional well-being. Serotonin is known as the "happiness hormone" and plays an important role in regulating emotions and reducing stress and anxiety. An adequate intake of tryptophan can therefore help to promote a positive mood and balanced emotional well-being.

Sources of tryptophan in the diet

Tryptophan is found in various foods, especially in protein-rich foods. Good sources of tryptophan include:

Meat and poultry such as chicken, turkey, beef and pork

Fish and seafood such as salmon, tuna, prawns and mussels

Eggs and dairy products such as eggs, cheese, yoghurt and milk

Plant sources such as soya beans, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds and peanuts

A balanced diet that includes a variety of protein-rich foods can help to fulfil the need for tryptophan and thus support health and well-being.

Tryptophan deficiency and its effects

Tryptophan deficiency can have a number of negative effects on health, as tryptophan is an essential amino acid required for various vital functions in the body. In this text, I will take a closer look at the causes, symptoms and effects of tryptophan deficiency.

Causes of a tryptophan deficiency

Insufficient intake from the diet: One of the most common causes of tryptophan deficiency is insufficient intake from the diet. This can occur in people who have an unbalanced diet or who avoid certain food groups that are rich in tryptophan.

Digestive problems: Digestive disorders such as malabsorption syndromes or chronic intestinal diseases can impair the absorption of tryptophan from food and lead to a deficiency.

Drug influences: Some medications can affect the absorption or metabolism of tryptophan in the body and lead to a deficiency.

Genetic factors: In rare cases, genetic disorders that affect the metabolism of amino acids can lead to a tryptophan deficiency.

Symptoms of a tryptophan deficiency

Tryptophan deficiency can cause a variety of symptoms and health problems, including

Mood disorders: Since tryptophan is required for the synthesis of serotonin in the brain, a deficiency can lead to mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, irritability and low mood.

Sleep disorders: A tryptophan deficiency can also cause sleep disorders, as tryptophan is needed to synthesise melatonin, which regulates the sleep-wake cycle.

Appetite disorders: Serotonin plays a role in the regulation of appetite. A tryptophan deficiency can therefore lead to appetite disorders, such as reduced appetite or food cravings.

Memory and concentration problems: As tryptophan is also important for the synthesis of other neurotransmitters such as dopamine and noradrenaline, a deficiency can lead to memory problems, concentration problems and reduced cognitive performance.

Weight problems: Disturbed appetite behaviour due to a tryptophan deficiency can lead to weight problems, including weight loss or weight gain.

Immune deficiency: Tryptophan plays a role in the immune system and a deficiency can lead to impaired immune function, which can increase susceptibility to infections.

Treatment of tryptophan deficiency

The treatment of tryptophan deficiency depends on the cause and severity of the deficiency. In many cases, an adjustment via LipoVibes Tryptophan can be the perfect solution.

Patented technology

The outer shell of the body cell is a barrier that restricts the uptake of active substances.

The LipoMolecule technology used in LipoVibes products combines the active ingredients with lipids that are also found in the cell envelope. This allows them to overcome the absorption barrier and effectively enter the cell. A very precise dosage is made possible.
LipoVibes products can thus be absorbed by the body up to 40 times better than conventional products.

Unrivalled bioavailability for healthy cells

Compared to tablets, powders or drops, LipoVibes has been shown to be up to 40 times better absorbed by the cells. This means that we do not have to artificially overdose LipoVibes™. This allows us to optimise the daily dosage without undesirable effects.

To give you a particularly accurate picture of our LipoMolecule™ technology, we have compared our products (left in the picture) under a microscope with a major supplier of liposomal food supplements (right in the picture). As you can see, the individual transport particles in LipoVibes™ products are all almost the same size and much smaller overall than in the comparison products. This smaller size and more homogeneous spatial distribution are two of the main reasons why the LipoVibes™ products are significantly more effective, meaning that much more of the ingested active ingredient reaches the blood plasma and can be transported from there into the cells.

Uncompromising quality for our cells

Our unique LipoMolecule Technology™ is based on liposomes and is a further development of this technology with increased effectiveness. We develop our LipoVibes micronutrients in our German laboratories and produce them entirely in northern Germany in accordance with current food standards (IFS).

Through strict testing procedures and our on-site quality management, we guarantee the highest quality of our active ingredients and end products.

Ingredients (6 drops each):

Glycerin, water, natural ethanol, lecithin (soya), orange peel oil, L-tryptophan (7.5 mg*), antioxidant (tocopherol (vitamin E)).

Glycerine retains moisture and improves the texture, water serves as a base for dissolving and stabilising the ingredients and ethanol acts as a natural preservative. Lecitin (from organic soya) serves as the basis for the cell-related lipid structure that surrounds the active ingredients. It also ensures the binding of our emulsions. We useorange peel oil as a natural flavouring, which also has antioxidant properties. Vitamin E serves as an antioxidant and ensures shelf life. Our main active ingredient, L-tryptophan, comes from 100% natural sources (kidney beans).

Application & dosage

LipoVibes™ products are taken as drops - either pure or together with cold drinks.

The recommended daily amount is 6 drops and is indicated on the bottles. Due to the viscosity (viscosity) of the active ingredient, it may be advisable to dose the number of drops using a teaspoon.

LipoVibes™ products can be taken either as a cure or permanently for health support.

Contents & shelf life

One bottle contains 10 ml (approx. 30 applications) and has a shelf life of 6 months after opening.
